I can't promise that every week will be as full to the brim as this one, but at the very least this weekly post will help me to fulfil a personal goal of experiencing as much as I can of Doha while I'm here. Who knows how much longer that will be...
Friday
Last Friday we headed down to Sharq Village and Spa for the first time since the night we got engaged for the return of Sundowners - an outdoor party on the terrace of Al Dana restaurant. We met up with friends at about 10pm and danced under the full moon well into the night.
Saturday
Feeling a little worse for wear, we slobbed about the house and ate as healthily as our hangovers would allow us to try to combat the effects of the night before. We headed out for a walk around The Pearl, but it was all too much for us, so we quickly retreated inside again to watch Déjà Vu on iTunes - a brilliant film if you love a good twist.
Sunday
After work, my great friend Sarah headed over to The Pearl for dinner, and met us at the Armani Caffe. Rich and I have known her since University days and as she's currently in Doha for a few weeks presenting the sports news for beIN Sports English, we're making the most of as much time with her as we can. We munched on exquisite designer pizza and salad, discussed exciting future plans and had a very good giggle as we always do when we get together.
Monday
Once a month, the London Laughter Factory comes to town on their mini tour of the Middle East, and we always try to go if we can. This month we were treated to the delights of Stuart Goldsmith (funny), Ian Coppinger (very funny) and Prince Abdi (hilarious). If you live in Doha, get yourself down to the Radisson Blu when this is on, as it's just about the best regular (non-drink related) event out there.
Tuesday
Dur dur dur dur dur dur dur dur dur dur dur dur DURR DUUURRR!
The return of The Apprentice on iPlayer. Enough said.
Wednesday
Some of my colleagues, Rich and I headed down to Oyster Bay at the St Regis for Shisha on the beach again for an informal toast of our engagement (a great excuse for a drink and a gossip). These guys always deliver and a 'couple of drinks' led to a night of scandalous revelations and inevitably staying up well past our bedtimes.
Thursday
We stayed in to FaceTime two very special people in our lives who were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary - an impressive feat in anyone's books! Grandma and Grandpa Byles, I salute you. You're brilliant role models to us all and deserve all of the recognition you received yesterday - including your letter from the Queen!!
As an aside, we also started watching Friday Night Lights last night - despite starting quite late in the evening, we're already 3 episodes in and pretty addicted. Check it out!
There's loads in store for next week already, and I can't wait to share it with you.
Love the quote at the beginning :) Good post!
