Weekly Ponderings 9

Friday 6 March 2015

This week I was excited about...

A short hop across the desert to Dubai for a minibreak with Rich. We are currently staying in the very wonderful (and I am pleased to report, not at all over-hyped) Raffles, which I can not wait to write a full post on in due course. In the meantime, here is a little sneak peek of the most fabulous suite I have ever slept in. Ooo-er!

This week I was reminded...

How important it is to get away from your desk every once in a while in the middle of the day in order to refresh and refuel. On Sunday, Rich and I met for a super-speedy lunchbreak at the The Anvil Rooms to take advantage of its extended restaurant week promotion and I returned to my desk feeling ready to attack the day (I'm not ashamed to admit that I visited for lunch and dinner three times in one week. When the food is that good and that cheap it would be criminal not to in my book...).

This week I appreciated...

  • How AMAZING Rich and my mums are as they got together for a weekend in the Peak District to visit the Chatsworth wedding fair, do some wedding breakfast tasting on our behalf (what a hardship!) and start to finalise some arrangements with wedding suppliers which we are unable to do from the desert. Mummies, we salute you. We could not do this thing without you.

Everybody loves a mummy selfie

  • Watching the tennis final with my friend Rosalyn, followed by a fun wrap party in the Intercontinental City Hotel with this little beIN Sports dream team as the Qatar Total Open finished for another year.

  • Watching Ed Sheeran perform to a crowd of 15,000 in the outdoor venue of Dubai Media City. Drinks were flowing, the night was balmy, and my crooner-averse, dance music obsessed other half even managed to enjoy himself and bopped away next to me into the early hours of the morning.
